Radotra"],"abstract":"Background: Choroid plexus carcinomas are rare intracranial tumors, constituting 15-20% of choroid plexus tumors, with a significant prevalence in children. Their typical radiological presentation includes a heterogeneously enhancing intraventricular mass that invades the ependyma and is associated with edema. However, atypical imaging presentations can occur, as demonstrated in this case. Methods: We report a case of a 1-year-old male with ataxia and intracranial hypertension, where noncontrast CT and MRI were utilized to evaluate a posterior fossa lesion. The imaging revealed a heterogeneously hyperdense lesion with both solid and cystic components, prompting differential diagnoses including atypical teratoid tumor and craniopharyngioma. Results: Surgical intervention revealed a cyst containing machine oil-like fluid and a soft, vascular solid tumor component. Histopathological examination confirmed the diagnosis of choroid plexus carcinoma, despite the atypical radiological features observed in imaging studies. Conclusion: This case highlights the potential for atypical radiological presentations of choroid plexus carcinoma, which can complicate diagnosis. Comprehensive imaging and surgical findings are crucial for accurate diagnosis and treatment planning in such cases.
