Neurosurgical services were reorganized to manage COVID-19 patients, with wards converted and staff redeployed to meet the new demands. Summary: During the pandemic, all planned neurosurgical operations were postponed, with only emergency and priority cases being addressed. The operating environment was altered to ensure safety, including the use of personal protective equipment for COVID-19-positive patients. Additionally, teaching and training opportunities for residents were severely limited due to restrictions on in-person gatherings. Conclusion: The pandemic has profoundly affected neurosurgical practice in the UK, leading to concerns about delayed patient presentations and potential neurological deterioration. As services begin to normalize, there is an anticipated influx of patients requiring care, necessitating collaborative efforts to manage the resulting burden on healthcare systems.
