Summary: The letter emphasizes the potential benefits of facetal distraction without decompression as a treatment for CSM, suggesting it may provide immediate symptomatic relief. The authors argue that open-door laminoplasty can maintain spinal canal dimensions without the need for costly implants, as the lamina remains open post-surgery. Conclusion: Further multicentric trials are necessary to evaluate the efficacy of 'fixation only' versus 'fixation with decompression' in the open-door laminoplasty technique for CSM.
