It highlights the importance of understanding tumor biology and the implications for treatment strategies. Methods: The study employed various methodologies including flow cytometry for CD47 expression analysis, in vitro phagocytosis assays, and in vivo tumor growth inhibition experiments in mouse models. For OPLL, serial thin-slice computed tomography imaging was utilized to create 3D models for assessing bone growth. Surgical outcomes for vestibular schwannomas were analyzed in a cohort of patients with different treatment histories. Results: CD47 was found to be highly expressed in tumor samples, correlating with poor survival outcomes. In the OPLL study, significant bone growth was observed post-surgery, with an average increase in bony volume of 37% over a mean follow-up of 3.1 years. Surgical treatment of vestibular schwannomas after failed radiosurgery resulted in total tumor removal in all patients, though functional outcomes were poorer compared to those without prior treatment. Conclusion: The findings suggest that targeting CD47 may provide a novel therapeutic avenue for solid tumors, while advanced imaging techniques can enhance understanding of OPLL progression. Surgical intervention for vestibular schwannomas post-radiosurgery is feasible but may yield less favorable outcomes, emphasizing the need for careful patient selection and management strategies.
