However, many students enter the neurosurgical operating room (OR) without the necessary skills for effective participation, often facing challenges due to a lack of knowledge about OR etiquette. This letter aims to provide guidance on preparing medical students for their first neurosurgery experience, emphasizing the importance of etiquette and preparation. Summary: The article outlines essential etiquette and preparation tips for medical students attending neurosurgery operations, focusing on three stages: the day before, the day of, and the day after surgery. Key recommendations include understanding the case, proper attire, and maintaining professionalism in the OR. The authors share their experiences from a teaching hospital, highlighting the benefits of being well-prepared and respectful in a complex surgical environment. Conclusion: By following the outlined etiquette and preparation strategies, medical students can enhance their learning experience and contribute positively to the surgical team.
