Ausman"],"abstract":"Background: Recent advances in neuroscience have highlighted the potential of using personal genomic data to predict and prevent diseases, as well as the molecular mechanisms underlying various neurological conditions. Notable studies have explored the implications of genetic mutations in diseases such as neurofibromatosis type 2 and the potential for gene therapy in treating disc degeneration and cerebral aneurysms. Methods: Investigators utilized genome analysis techniques to assess genetic risks in patients, while other studies employed animal models to evaluate the efficacy of gene therapy and molecular treatments for conditions like disc degeneration and malignant cerebral infarctions. Techniques included adenovirus-mediated gene delivery and the use of sulfonylurea inhibitors to manage edema. Results: The genome analysis revealed significant genetic risks for myocardial infarction and other diseases in a patient, while gene therapy studies demonstrated successful disc regeneration in mice. Additionally, the use of Glibenclamide in a rat model showed improved neurological outcomes compared to decompressive craniotomy in treating malignant cerebral infarctions. Conclusion: These findings underscore the transformative potential of genomic medicine and molecular therapies in neurosurgery and neurology, paving the way for personalized treatment strategies and improved patient outcomes in the future.
