Kubben"],"abstract":"Background: Mobile clinical decision support systems (mCDSS) have been shown to enhance adherence to clinical guidelines, particularly in neurosurgery. The SLIC app provides evidence-based decision support for the surgical treatment of subaxial cervical spine injuries. The second version, SLIC 2, was released in January 2012 and includes significant updates from its predecessor. Methods: SLIC 2 has been developed to run on iPhone, iPad, and Android platforms, featuring automatic calculation of the SLIC score. The app provides treatment recommendations based on the calculated score, advising whether conservative management or surgery is appropriate. The user interface has been improved for better accessibility and usability. Results: SLIC 2 offers enhanced interactivity compared to the original version, allowing for a more intuitive user experience. The app's graphical interface facilitates easier navigation and expansion for future updates. It shares programming intelligence with NeuroMind 2, which will enable further development of decision support features. Conclusion: SLIC 2 represents a significant advancement in mobile decision support for subaxial cervical spine injuries, improving user interaction and decision-making capabilities. Future updates are anticipated to expand its functionality to include support for additional spine injuries.
