This vein connects the internal jugular vein or sigmoid sinus to the suboccipital venous plexus. Thrombosis of the posterior condylar vein with extension to the internal jugular vein due to trauma has not been previously reported. Summary: We present a case of a 50-year-old patient with an occipital bone fracture that caused thrombosis of the right posterior condylar vein, extending to the upper aspect of the right internal jugular vein. Initial imaging revealed bilateral hemorrhagic contusions and a linear occipital bone fracture. The patient was managed conservatively due to the nonocclusive nature of the thrombosis. Conclusion: This case highlights the potential for thrombosis of the posterior condylar vein following blunt head trauma. Increased awareness of this anatomical structure and the importance of performing CT venography in cases of skull fractures extending to major dural venous sinuses are essential for accurate diagnosis and management.
