This treatment method has shown potential in inducing mitochondrial-dependent apoptosis and has been explored in various malignancies, although its application in CNS tumors remains limited. Summary: The unique properties of nsPEFs allow for penetration into intracellular organelles while minimally damaging the plasma membrane. Studies indicate that nsPEFs can induce apoptosis and enhance immune responses, making them a promising option for tumor regression. Their ability to disrupt tumor vascularization further supports their potential in treating brain tumors. Conclusion: While the clinical use of nsPEFs in CNS tumors is still in its infancy, their minimally invasive nature and effectiveness in inducing apoptosis without calcium entry present a significant opportunity for advancing cancer treatment. Continued research is warranted to explore their full potential in this challenging area.
