He graduated from Ankara University, School of Medicine in 1965 and received numerous accolades throughout his career, including the WHO's Best Public Health Service Unit Award in 1966. Methods: Dr. Kanpolat trained over 100 neurosurgical residents and was involved in numerous academic studies in stereotactic and functional neurosurgery. He also organized training courses and fellowship programs aimed at advancing the surgical treatment of pain. Results: Throughout his career, Dr. Kanpolat published 176 international articles and delivered 92 invited lectures. His efforts in education included the TUBA program promoting science education among children in Turkey and contributions to humanitarian projects in Afghanistan. Conclusion: Dr. Kanpolat's legacy as a mentor and educator in neurosurgery is profound, influencing many neurosurgeons globally. His dedication to both academic and humanitarian efforts will be remembered by colleagues and students alike.
