I’ve just had a Carotid endarterectomy operation. i cannot believe how much plaque was taken out in this video. i was very Lucky i only had a small stroke but a bigger one was on it’st way. My artery was 79% blocked. I was extremely surprised how well I felt and have done after the operation. I was in the HDU after my operation. The next day I went home at tea time. I was 76 yrs old Friday 16th November 2019 my operation was on 19th November 2019. Had no pain after, it was sore, but coped alright. i could eat and drink ok, although swallowing i felt a tight sore grip in my throat, but i was told that will settle it would be the swelling. I have had a serious operation. It will take about three to four months to settle. The surgeon put an inward long stitch like the plastic surgeon does, so the scar will hardly be seen if at all. The nurse at my GP surgery took off my patch ten days later, on the 29th November 2019 that was it, i went home. it is swollen down the scar and sore, but i can cope. where the stitch is, that dissolves,. It feels numb and sore just around and under the chin but that will get better I am told. again in three to four months. Today is the 30th November 2019. The surgeons are extremely clever so go for the operation rather than the stent or tablets if the surgeon offers it to you, it gives you a longer life span. hope this is of some help. :))
Thank you…I think…? It looks like a very invasive operation, but I have survived a previous coronary artery bypass, so at I least I know what I’m in for….!

Extra comment I forgot you will feel extra tired for a few weeks, but res, don’t rush to get better too quick, don’t expect too much too soon. :))
